Nothing evokes emotion and intimacy like a really well done low key portrait. The soft lighting and mood can create a connection between the subject and viewer like no other.
Today we explore the world of low key. A photo where the majority of values fall below 18% neutral grey. The opposite of High Key and an art form unto itself.
Our model, with dark hair, dressed in black clothing and posed on a black background will give us a true test of our lighting and metering skills as we try to hold all the values and keep one area from bleeding into another.
